Computer Appreciation

Introduction

Looking around us today, without reasonable doubts we agreed that the computer has really made huge changes in the way we live our lives.

Life is more simple and flexible with it, quick decisions are made where necessary and above all, the whole world has been made a global village. All these were possible by our curious minds with the help of computer.

In the world today, computer appreciation is the first step for anybody wanting to do things with computer. From all works of life, there is no area where computer knowledge is not important, especially when trying to make quick decisions.  No matter the form of business or the size, computer appreciation plays great roles from the beginning to the end of organizational structure.

Computer has drawn millions of peoples’ attention. This is because virtually all human terrain now requires the knowledge of the computer. We can see this mostly in the area of employment of labor all over the globe where every vacant position requires computer literacy in addition.

This is becoming a very important requirement today for employers to employ. Infact every works of life now requires computer. Whether you are a manager in the office or a preacher man in a Church, you need a computer to deliver effectively.

Therefore you must study the computer. Our computer studies is titled  “Computer Appreciation”   To appreciate the computer, you will start from knowing what data processing is, the early history of computing, category of computers, the common things of the computer like: its components (Central Processing Unit, Visual Display Unit, Keyboard, Memory, etc), computer programming, computer people, etc.

To completely appreciate the computer, you have to take the lesson or read the book titled “The Microcomputers (A guide to buying a personal computer of your need) ”

The next step is to learn how switching it on and off, working around with the computer packages like: Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, CorelDraw, etc and every other basic knowledge of using the computer.

After this step, you should be able to really work and produce results from the computer like: typing letters, memo, curriculum vitae, etc. However, some people decided to relent at this stage which they consider is enough for them while others out of curiosity still move on to know or acquire more skills or knowledge of the world acclaimed machine.
